You may encounter this scenario that you delete a table in Word using the Del key on the keyboard but only delete the content inside the table, the table itself is not deleted. This is a strange problem and I don’t know why.

You can try with the following steps.

Select a table by clicking the icon in the left top corner of the table. Press the Del key on the keyboard.

You can see only the content in the table are deleted.

So is there any other way to quickly delete the table? The answer is simple. First way, using shortcut key Shift+Del to delete the table after select it. The second way, press Back Space key to delete the table after select it.

If you want to use Del key to delete the table, try to select the table and another paragraph at the same time, then press Del key, you could see the table and the paragraph are deleted. Very strange, isn’t it?
